Yamaha Motor UK has supplied four Ténéré 700s to the Bennetts British Superbike Championship ahead of the 2022 season getting underway at Silverstone this weekend with the adventure bike once again the machine of choice for the series’ marshal taxi bikes.
The arrangement marks the continuation of a longstanding partnership between Yamaha and championship organisers, MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR).
Powered by a high-torque 689cc twin cylinder engine equipped with a specially optimised transmission, the rally-bred Ténéré is built to master a wide range of riding conditions both on dirt or asphalt.
A compact tubular chassis and slim bodywork offer maximum agility while long travel suspension and spoked wheels enhance the Ténéré’s ability to take the rider anywhere they want. Such versatility is crucial for the Bennetts BSB RaceSafe marshals, who use the machines to traverse the terrain surrounding the UK’s race circuits.
Often the silent heroes of the championship, the marshals are pivotal to the running of Bennetts British Superbike events and Yamaha is proud to see the ‘Orange Army’ aboard Ténérés.
The four Ténéré 700s supplied to BSB adorn the new 2022 ‘Icon Blue’ colour scheme, based on the iconic Yamaha Racing blue which has become synonymous with the Yamaha’s racing activity both on and off road.
NMAX 125, the best-selling powered two-wheeler in the UK, will also continue as BSB’s official paddock scooters.
Jeff Turner, Marketing Manager – Yamaha Motor UK: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in 2021 as the official supplier of taxi bikes and paddock scooters. The Racesafe Marshals are the silent heroes of BSB, without them the show simply would not run so it’s great to be able to supply them with some of the equipment they need to carry out their work – which is hugely appreciated by everyone involved in the championship from us as manufacturers, to teams, riders and fans.”
Stuart Higgs, Series Director – Bennetts British Superbike Championship: “Yamaha are long term, highly valued partners. The provision of both the NMAX scooters for operational staff and the Ténéré 700s used to recover riders around the service roads by the Racesafe Marshals are essential to the running of events.”
